Overall Rating
Good
Though not a commuter, I often use the rail service from Guildford when travelling to London. There are disabled car parking spaces in front of the station which need to be paid for (I don’t use the rear access to the station). Unfortunately, these spaces are often blocked by people waiting to pick up train travellers. This is seemingly not supervised by APCOA, the company managing the car parking at the station. Also, if there is a need for a bus replacement service, these spaces are used for the drop off/pick up zone as the usual rank is given over to the buses parking. What happens to the disabled parking bays when the new multi-storey car park opens is unclear. It is level access into the front of the station and once through, there is access to the platforms via slopes to the underground access tunnel used by passengers. The slopes are a great help in the absence of lifts, but might be a little steep for some wheelchair users. There is staff support to use ramps to get on to trains from the platform. This can be pre-booked though I have always been supported when I turn up without a booking. If you are not rushing, staff are available to help when you ask at the ticket gate for support. I have always found the staff very helpful.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
Wheelchair access to the platforms is via ramps/slopes linked by an underground passage.
Accessible facilities: Step-free entrance, Step-free access to most areas
Parking & Transport
I travelled to this place by personal vehicle
When bus replacement services are running from the station, usually on a weekend if this happens, this disrupts access to the disabled parking bays at the front of the station. Also, sometimes non-disabled vehicles take up spaces when doing a pick-up and this doesn’t seem to be monitored/policed by the station staff.
Accessible facilities: Drop-off or pick up point, Dedicated on-site parking
Accessible Toilets
Facilities: Accessible toilet
