Overview

I visit the Haymarket Hub Hotel on a regular basis, it's central, close to public transport links both bus, train & tram. The rooms however do appear to be a little challenging after the latest refit throughout the hotel & Iv'e had to consult staff about this on more than one occasion, this doesn't deter me from staying there however because of the location, I feel it just removes an element of my independence & I become more reliant on others. It also has a restaurant called Platform 5 located right next door which you can access from within the hotel. This is where breakfast is also served in the mornings should you choose to opt to have that included in your stay.

Transport & Parking

There is a small car park located at the back of the hotel which guests are able to use based on a first come first served basis. The hotel is a very close wheel away from the Train Station (Haymarket) Bus & Tram links, there is also a taxi rank nearby should you prefer to take a cab, its one of the reasons I choose to stay there so frequently.

Access

3.5

There is a small slope upon entrance and a small lift that will take you up to reception level. There is a lowered reception desk designed for wheechair users and there are 2 lifts which will take you to room level there are 7 floors in the hotel in total. However since the hotel has had a re-fit recently I don't think the accessible rooms are as accessible as they used to be, I can no longer shut the window blinds myself because the cords are too high up the window. The blackout curtains they had before were much easier. They have also removed the towel rails that existed in the bathrooms before, now the towels are placed on the ledge behind the toilet, again to high up for a wheelchair user to reach. I did ask the question at reception why these basic things had been removed but she couldn't provide me with an answer. Apart from that it's still a great hotel, especially the location you have everything you need close by.

Toilets

There is one accessible toilet before you access the rooms however I have never used it so I can't comment on the size etc.

Staff

5

The staff are always really friendly and they can never do enough to help you! Iv'e never had a problem with any of them, even now when I have to interact with them a bit more.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Despite the issues with the rooms post re-fit I still choose to stay here for convenience it's so close to everything you could want/need to enjoy a stay during a city break or a visit to the Scottish Capital.

Venue Manager responded to this review

Hi Ms Douglas, many thanks for taking the time to provide feedback, we really appreciate it! And thank you for being a regular guest with us, we love that you have stayed with us so many times. To respond to your feedback, I want to say thank you for giving us your perspective on issues our rooms pose and what we can do to resolve this. We have already procured blind chain extensions for our adapted rooms and will be fitting them as a priority and will look into bringing back the towel rails. I apologise for any inconvenience these changes have caused during your recent stays with us. We are always open to change and adapt our offering to suit our guests to ensure you feel as comfortable as possible during your time so please do let us know if there is anything further we can do to make you comfortable during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Edinburgh! Many thanks, Jamie Nelson Hotel Manager
