Overview

For a large open space, park, the access is fairly good with a well surfaced pathway adjacent to all of the roads, an accessible toilet in the Education building, and an information centre.

Transport & Parking

Disabled parking spaces are available in the main car park adjacent to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Parking is also available by Dunsapie Loch, St. Maragert's Loch and Duddingston Loch.

Access

For a country park the access is good with plenty of parking spaces, accessible toilets, an information centre, and a map to show you where to explore ( on the website at http://www.historic-scotland.gov.uk/holyrood-park-map-and-guide.pdf ).

Toilets

Accessible toilets are provided by the Education Centre. Whilst they are well equipped they drop a couple of stars for the interior colours. They are tiled in a black (or very dark) colour that reduces the amount of light and is not helpful for visually impaired visitors. It is possible to take a vehicle to the toilets and park alongside if required.

Staff

The park is staffed by a team of Rangers who are very helpful and can advise on the best routes for wheelchair access as well as what to see and do.

Holyrood Park often plays host to a range of events on the lower green space area by the main car park. The Ranger Service run various events throughout the year for all the family. These events include themed walks, children's activities, teddy bear's picnics and Easter events.
