Homelands Trust-Fife SCIO (SC047615) is an independent Scottish charity, set up in 1998 to carry out the wishes of Miss Isobel Paxton of Lundin Links. She bequeathed her estate, “Homelands”, to charity to establish and maintain a facility to enable people affected by a range of disabling conditions to have a holiday or a break from living daily with a disability, long-term condition or life-limiting illness. There are nine self-catering lodges set in the peaceful grounds of Homelands, and with magnificent views over Lundin Golf Course across the Firth of Forth to the Lothians. There is also a drop-in community centre, called the Paxton Centre. It has five therapy/ general purpose rooms, a kitchen area, open plan reception, disabled toilet facilities, and a handyman’s/ gardener’s storage area.

Recommendation

Our first visit and as a power wheelchair user I was very impressed with the property, equipment, and location. Everything I required was provided. I would be keen to return and would strongly recommend this as a holiday venue.

Relaxing Weekend at Emsdorf Lodge

I was kindly invited to visit Homelands for the weekend to stay in their Emsdorf 3-bedroom accessible lodge. This lodge is part of their newer development, which opened to guests in April 2023. We had a dog-friendly lodge, with plenty of space for 4 of us.

Amazing stay with amazing staff

Amazing stay at the Durham Lodge. Staff made us feel so welcome and provided great information throughout. Really appreciated the help we got with booking the accommodation. Accommodation was perfect and had everything we needed. Bedroom and wetroom both had ceiling mounted hoists. Other equipment also available if required. Can't wait to return.

Toilets features at Homelands Trust-Fife

There is a ceiling tracking hoist in each wet room. There is a Clos-o-Mat in the wet room in 4 of the 9 lodges (Cardy, Drummochy, Durham and Largo Lodge). The toilet in each wet room is left side transfer. There is a second, accessible toilet in each lodge with a right side transfer but no ceiling hoist. The Paxton Centre also has an accessible toilet on each floor. The accessible toilet downstairs is a Clos-o-Mat toilet. We have an Oxford Advance mobile hoist, an Oxford Journey stand aid and a Sara Standaid plus an Etac turner for transfers (these need to be booked out by guests at the time of making a reservation. There is no charge for these).
