Overview

Great wheelchair accessible Italian restaurant in the city center of Glasgow.

Transport & Parking

5

Plenty of on street parking available and free for blue badge holders. However, none were available when I visited so I parked in Buchanan Galleries which is a 5 minute walk away. With it being right in the city centre lots of public transport available. Queens Street railway station is across the other side of George Square.

Access

5

This restaurant has level access into it with a slight ramp to get up to the tables. It is very spacious inside and the tables are of all shapes and sizes: squares, circles, booths etc. Most tables are at an appropriate level for wheelchair users with the odd exception of a few tall tables. There are more tables down a flight of stairs however, there are plenty of tables on the level access. The width of the door at the entrance to the restaurant has plenty of space for a wheelchair to get through, the only thing I would say is that the door is quite heavy and there is no automatic door pad. So, if a wheelchair user was on their own then they may struggle to get in.

Toilets

3.5

There is a disabled toilet hidden in the back corner of the restaurant, no signage to say where. It is a tight squeeze to get to it though as you need to drive between the till area and high table with bar stools. It is also quite a sharp turn into the toilet and when I visited there were baby high chairs which made it more difficult. There is a doorway before getting to the disabled toilet into a hallway type section. Both doors open the opposite way so it can be a little bit hard to move around to open the toilet door. With the door shut in the disabled toilet it doesn't allow for much room, especially if a wheelchair user has someone assisting them. Also if someone had to transfer from the left side of their wheelchair then this would not be possible because the toilet is right up against the wall. There is plenty of space at the other side though.

Staff

5

All staff I interacted with when I visited were very friendly and helpful. Our waitress was even more helpful as she told us what dishes were spicy even though they didn't say so on the menu.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I would recommend this restaurant to people that enjoy Italian food. I especially liked that they had the option to have most of their pasta dishes as a starter, for someone like me that doesn't eat a lot and gets put off by a lot of food on my plate, it gives me more options on what to have.
