Excellent, very helpful staff but.....
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Powerchair
There are little carts that take you round the Viking Centre, they have 1 cart that has a lowered floor specifically 4 wheelchairs. The staff were fantastic and helped me through the centre and onto the cart, they were very friendly and made sure I didn't miss a thing. I didn't book to go either, I just turned up.
Transport & Parking
First time in York, needed to hire an electric wheelchair, shop mobility is nowhere near where the bus drops you and they don't have a drop off service, my mum (who has never used a powerchair b4) had to walk from bus stop to mobility shop 2 collect the chair for me (2 far 4 me 2 walk) up 2 levels of multi storey car park & struggle bringing it back 2 me. Viking Centre staff fantastic with good wheelchair access.
Access to the Viking Centre was great, lift to take you down and a disabled access cart. The only let down was some of York itself as the streets were very narrow and most of the little boutiques had steps to get in so I couldn't explore as much as I would've liked. The Minister shop was only accessible via the main entrance of the Minister itself although the staff were very helpful in letting me through.
Disabled toilets in Viking Centre very clean with plenty of room, it is shared with a baby changing facility.
Couldn't fault the staff at all. Made it a very nice experience.
