    Date of visit: October 2026

I am a disabled person. I have experience of challenges around: accessing toilets and moving around.

I use or have experience of: disabled toilet, wheelchair

On the left you can see tactile markings and a painted yellow line at the edge of the platform A view at the entrance to the platforms. There is a sign on the right that shows that on the right-hand side is Platform 1 with trains going to Woolwich Arsenal and on the left-hand side is Platform 2 with trains going towards Bank and Stratford International and there is a map of all the stations between those routes. Poor

Unfortunately, I was unable to exit this station due to a lift that was out of order. There were workers there at the time looking at it which was good to see. However, at the time of posting this review, a week or so after my visit, the TfL website is still showing that there is an out of order lift at this station. So it's still not been fixed. Because I was physically unable to leave the station I've had to mark it as a poor experience. With functional lifts, I believe the accessibility would have been good here. The station has a lift that travels from the platforms to a footbridge, and then another from the footbridge down to street level. It was the lift from the footbridge to street level that I was unable to use. The platforms have canopies over a large portion of them so there are large areas with overhead cover, but some of the platform is out in the open and none of it is not temperature controlled. There are tactile markings at the edge of the platform and there are help points to call for assistance or notify of any emergencies. The DLR trains stop level with the platform with a very minimal gap between the train and the platform.

    Disabled Access In and Around

I was unable to see what the entrance to this station looked like due to the faulty lift but there were lifts that provided step-free access when they were working. With working lifts I would have rated the access higher but I've had to mark it down to average for this review due to the broken lift. The platforms have tactile markings and a painted yellow line at the edge of the platform to indicate where it is. There is seating available along each platform which have backrests and armrests between each seat and at either end. The armrests are painted yellow. The platforms have canopies covering some of them, with some sections at the end remaining uncovered. The station is also still based outside so the platforms do not have any heating or cooling facilities There are help points in the station which provide access to alert of any emergencies or speak to staff. The help points are tall white stands with ‘Emergency point’ posted at the top. On the left are some red panels which include a red door which has an emergency train stop control inside. On the right there is a red panel on top which has a fire alarm and below it is a green panel with a large circular button and this connects you to a member of staff. The trains stop level with the platforms and there is only a small gap between the train and the platform at this station. The brand-new DLR trains (as of October 2026) have a much better layout inside the carriage for those in wheelchairs or with prams. The buttons to open the doors are also lower down on the newer trains and therefore easier to reach for someone at a lower level.

Accessible facilities: Seating at regular intervals, Step-free entrance, Lift to all areas, Step-free access to most areas

I travelled to this place by train

This stop has two platforms, one where southbound services to Woolwich Arsenal stop, and the other where northbound services to Bank and Stratford International. I wasn’t able to leave the station to see if there were any parking facilities nearby.

    Staff

This is an unmanned station but there is always a member of staff on every DLR train. The help points on the platform also provide a way of communicating with staff.
