With over 100 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates, the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is a unique and exciting blend of wildlife and interactive hands-on displays. Located just five minutes off junction 35 of the M6, the zoo is home to lush indoor tropical halls, walkthrough enclosures and picturesque outdoor spaces – making the zoo great fun no matter the weather! We are open every day from 10am, except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Delicious, wholesome food is available every day from the Wild Café, equipped with conservatory and outdoor picnic area. Owned and operated by a registered charity (The Lakeland Trust for Natural Sciences), the zoo prides itself on its commitment to education and conservation of wild species and wild spaces!

Small but surprisingly good zoo

The visitor experience was limited by the restrictions of the current pandemic so there were no talks scheduled. However there were plenty of volunteers around to answer questions. The arrangements for social distancing were well thought out, with hand sanitizer at the point of entry for each new area. Each area was interesting and the tropical house was arranged to educate evolution of species. Loved it.

Entire attraction on one level. Single ramp to outside area but otherwise entirely flat. No lifts/stairs. Wide access paths and doors. All doors push access.
