    Good

This DLR stop connects directly to the airport terminal for London City Airport. There are two platforms which provide DLR services north and southbound. The platforms are above street level and above the airport terminal too. There are escalators and lifts to travel between the levels. It is only a short walk and one lift to get from the platform to the airport terminal. There are tactile markings at the edge of the platform and there are help points to call for assistance or notify of any emergencies. The DLR trains stop level with the platform with a very minimal gap between the train and the platform.

The DLR station is above street level and the airport terminal is in between the platforms and the street below. When entering from the surrounding streets, there is an underpass which has a tall sign with the DLR logo at the top of it and the station name beneath the logo. Above the underpass entrance there is also London City Airport displayed in large letters. There are two lifts in this underpass which travel to the two levels above. The level in the middle has the ticket hall for the DLR station and the entrance to the airport, and the top level is where the platforms are located. In between the ticket hall and airport terminal, there are some food vendors available with some seating outside them. When I visited, there was a member of staff who was based in the ticket hall area and also checked on the platforms too. In the ticket hall there were two escalators as well as the two lifts that travel between the street level below and up to the DLR platforms above. The lifts had tactile buttons and grab rails inside. The platforms are within an enclosed structure and so the whole area is protected from the weather outside. However, because of the open areas where the trains travel, the area is not temperature controlled and is very similar to the temperature outside of the station, although it is protected from the wind. There is a covered waiting room on the platform which has seating inside which provides a warmer spot to wait in. There are buttons to open the doors automatically. The platforms are connected to one another and are in the middle of the train tracks which run down either side. The platforms have tactile markings and a painted yellow line at the edge of the platform to indicate where it is. There is seating available along each platform which have backrests and armrests between each seat and at either end. The armrests are painted yellow. There are overhead digital signs with information about which trains are expected, how long they will be and where they are travelling to. There are help points in the station which provide access to alert of any emergencies or speak to staff. The trains stop level with the platforms and there is only a small gap between the train and the platform at this station. The brand-new DLR trains (as of October 2026) have a much better layout inside the carriage for those in wheelchairs or with prams. The buttons to open the doors are also lower down on the newer trains and therefore easier to reach for someone at a lower level.

    Staff

There was a member of staff based at this station. They were clearly identifiable and were either in the ticket hall or on the platforms whenever I used the station. There is also a member of staff on every DLR train and the help points on the platforms can connect you to a member of the TfL staff.
