Overview

On this PART TWO review of Berystede, we want to show you their Spa and Health club, and we found the staff here very helpful and willing, really encouraging disabled to make use of their facilities, and were impressed by the effort made to support those recovering from cancer treatments, and the lady in charge of the team really provided a lot of help and advice, so if you live near Berystede, we suggest you pay them a visit and seek their advice. The health club is well maintained, with good modern equipment large enough to take many guests, and it seems to be popular, which indicates it must be good here. Two pools are available, a really nice size indoor pool, and the outdoor hydro pool. The whole spa is surrounded by gardens, nicely maintained, with paths to walk along for exercise, plenty of seating on warm sunny days. They have a full thermal suite, a spa store for those special treatments, and they have partnered up with Jennifer Young Beauty Despite Cancer to support those recovering after cancer treatments. We will take you round now to help you see what they have here for you. OUR REVIEW OF THE SPA CLUB Along by the terrace area, you may enjoy a cup of coffee (photo 1) before your adventure into the spa, or if weather suitable, the terrace would be a nice place to sit (photo 2) This looks down on the gardens (photo 3) with paths you could take to enjoy looking around, as the gardens are well maintained and quite a sun trap with places to sit and relax (photo 4) However, to get down to them you will need to take the lift which is situated over to the left from the main hotel, signed for the Vital Spa and health club (photo 5) with a ramp to help you get to the lift inside (photo 6). This takes you down towards the Spa entrance and to the garden approach (photo 7) you will be welcomed by friendly staff members who will be willing you show you around their club (photo 8) A wooden tiled floor is handy as it allow your chair freedom to move around and leads along the corridor (photo 9) towards the pool (photo 10) although not being a posh pool, it is a good size with easy access. A disabled toilet is available in the club, clean and tidy, tiled, with plenty of room to be able to use your chair. Grab handles and pull cord available (photo 11) but we did notice the pull cord had been strung up to a bar, and we imagine it would be like that most of the time, because when we pointed this out to the staff who were kindly showing us around and they undid the cord, it hung right in the middle of the floor area, and some would find this a nuisance and would then wrap it around the grab handle again, but at least the staff acknowledge our concern. It is quite a reasonable sized gym area (photo 12) but a step needed to get up for some equipment, but most are ready for use on the level (photo 13) with a good selection of equipment. Overall, it’s not a bad gym and spa club, it has all you need, and well looked after, and many disabled people do make use of this facility, it seems to be very popular with locals anyway, and it’s unusual front appearance (photo 14) does appeal in a way. OUR FINAL THOUGHTS The Club is not that appealing, old and looking it’s age in parts, but we were impressed by the effort being made by the staff in the health club to help disabled and the ill, and you will be well looked after, so if it’s near enough for you to use then do at least check it out, it may be just what you need.
