Inspire Mansfield Central Library is a welcoming place to read, learn, and enjoy culture. It is free to join and gives access to a range of services.

Browse and borrow books, use a PC or Wi-Fi, research family history, or simply relax in our refreshment areas. Join in regular events—perfect for meeting new people and trying activities like crafting, colouring, reading groups, and children’s sessions.

Disabled Access Information Provided by Mansfield Central Library

Disabled Access at Mansfield Central Library

We have a main entrance on the ground floor with automatic doors leading into the building, and lifts to the first, second and mezzanine floors. All toilets and meeting rooms etc are wheelchair accessible Service disruptions including any problems with the the lift are posted here: https://www.inspireculture.org.uk/service-disruptions/ There is regular seating available throughout the library, and seats at the customer help desk Our café is upstairs on floor 1A and is accessed via the lift. The area itself has tables and chairs which can be moved if needed to provide further space. We make provision at all our venues for wheelchair users. We have 1 main entrance to the library, at the front of the building which is step free. Automatic doors are in operation as you enter the building. We make provision for access around our library for wheelchair users.

Children’s picture books in Large Print and braille can be requested for collection at any Inspire Library. Large print books for adults are available. Giant print books for children are kept at Inspire HQ and can be requested for collection at any Inspire Library. Ebook titles for both adults and children can be borrowed for free via a website or app (with accessibility features including increased font size and dyslexic-friendly fonts) with a library card. Accessible services at Mansfield Central Library

We have evac mats in place and trained staff in the event of a fire and also designated refuge areas suitable for wheelchair users. We are accredited as a Carer Friendly organisation by Nottingham Carers Association. We are a Dementia Friendly organisation. We are accredited as an Age Friendly organisation. We hold Investors in Diversity Silver accreditation. During our events calendar throughout the year, we do offer relaxed cinema screenings in the library, as well as Dementia friendly screenings. These events have an interval and refreshments, as well as gentle lighting and a more flexible experience, allowing for talking etc. A break out room is available at these events if required. The screenings are held in the auditorium which has bookable wheelchair spaces. It is located on the second floor of the library where there is also an accessible toilet We have emergency assistance alarms in both accessible toilets, and there are emergency alarms in both lifts.
