After a fish supper and in a moment of stupidity, I and my pal decided that we could see a Colossium like structure on the hillside. We were going to find this 'ancient monument' and see what it was all about. Little did we appreciate what a massively steep hill would be involved!

Disabled access for me as a wheelchair user, once inside the circle of the folly, was not too bad as there was a hard surfaced path running around the perimeter. Views out to see and across the town weren't that accessible but with the help of a portable ramp, a shove or two, and sheer bloody mindedness I got out on to one of the viewing platforms to get the picture everyone wants. There are absolutely no facilities here, rough terrain, but amazing views and some lovely plants.

You can park close by to the monument but it is still an amazingly steep push to get up to the monument. You have to be a good map reader to get here as we wound our way through the many narrow street to climb the hill. Wondering if we were going to get anywhere near as we encountered no through roads and some tight turns.
Additional Information
Not recommended unless your wheelchair is suitable for extremely challenging terrain! Built in 1897 by local banker John Stuart McCaig, the aim of the tower was to provide work for local stonemasons and a lasting monument to the McCaig family.
