Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
The museum is approached via a concrete ramp from street level to the main entrance. The whole museum is step-free, there are several lifts, and the only oddity is that there are signs on the lifts insisting that you must contact staff if you want to use the lifts, though in fact the staff don't operate the lifts, you can use them unsupervised like any ordinary lift.
Parking & Transport
0I don't know enough to comment on parking and transport, though several bus routes pass along St Andrew's St, which is quite nearby.
Accessible Toilets
0There are at least two wheelchair-accessible toilets but I did not go into them, so I can't comment on them in detail.
Staff
Excellent
The 'visitor engagement' volunteer in the main gallery, who had lived in Uganda for a while in the past, was extremely affable, helpful and courteous, and was happy to chat to us about the exhibits and about the museum itself. He was charm itself, a huge credit to the museum, special thanks to him for making the visit happy and memorable.
Additional Information
I definitely recommend this museum, it's spacious, light, airy, and the exhibits are fascinating and superbly lit and displayed. A lot of thought has gone into it all, top marks all round. If visitors could be trusted to use the lifts unsupervised, that would be even more fabulous.
