Moor Walk was a small area with the same layout as a shopping centre. It had level access with the street on one side and a lift and escalator down to The Moor on the other side. There were a few different places inside Moor Walk, Nando’s being one of them. Nando’s was easy to find and get into, the door was slightly heavy but I was able to manage by myself. There was signage at the door showing they had a hearing loop available inside which was really nice to see. The staff got me a table and made sure I was comfortable there. I then ordered via the Nando’s app which I always find really easy. The area with the drinks dispenser, ice cream machine, sauces, cutlery, napkins and a small sink was actually lower than what I’ve seen at other Nando’s locations. It made it much easier for me to be able to get everything I needed. When I went it wasn’t too busy so there was a nice atmosphere in there and I was able to navigate the restaurant really easily. The staff were really lovely, the service was prompt and the accessible toilet was good too.
Disabled Access In and Around

Nando’s is located inside an area called Moor Walk. One side is level with the street and has automatic doors inside the building. The other side has an escalator and a small lift to travel between street-level and the level of the restaurant. The door into Nando’s was slightly heavy but I was able to manage. When I visited, it was quite quiet, so I didn’t have any issues navigating the space or with noise levels. However, I’m sure if it had been really busy I might have struggled a bit more. The tables were a good height and throughout the restaurant there was a mixture of free-standing tables and chairs, some tables with bench seating, and some booths. The flooring was smooth and not sticky. The counter to order food with a member of staff was quite high, but you can also order via the Nando’s app, which is my preferred method. The counter with the drinks dispenser, ice cream machine, sauces, cutlery, napkins and a sink to wash your hands was a slightly lower height than normal. So I was able to reach everything much easier than I have at other Nando’s locations.

The Moorhead (MH4) bus stop is roughly 200-250 metres from the entrance of Nando’s, depending on the route you take. From here you can get the buses 1, 46, 47, 48, 51, 73, 798, 798a, SC2, X1, X2 and X6. The NCP Sheffield Wellington Street multi-storey car park is 350 metres from the restaurant but it had limited accessible parking and step-free access. The alternative option for parking is the The Moor Car Park which is 250 metres away. It is a 24 hour, paid, multi-storey car park. They have a total of 670 parking spaces in the entire car park with accessible bays available throughout. There are lifts on either side of the building, making it easy to travel from your parking space and street-level. There is a height restriction of 1.85 metres. West Street tram stop is around 650 metres away. From this stop, you can access trams on the blue and yellow services. The yellow services travel between Middlewood and Meadowhall. The blue services travel between Malin Bridge and Halfway.

The toilet was located towards the back of the restaurant and was also the baby-changing area. Male and female toilets were located up a flight of stairs. I needed a RADAR key to access the door, but staff also had one and could provide this if needed. The door opened outwards and had a horizontal grab rail on the inside to make it easier to close. The handle needed to be pushed upwards to lock the door. The door handle was a good size so someone using their fist, elbow or with reduced dexterity could still manage. There was also a large mirror on the inside of the door. The toilet had some space for a left-side transfer, although there was a sanitary bin that might have got in the way for some people. A grab rail that could be raised and lowered was mounted on the same side and the transfer space. Another fixed, vertical grab rail was also mounted on that side of the toilet. On the opposite side, was a fixed, horizontal grab rail which was mounted below the toilet paper dispenser. On each side of the toilet there were also some small shelves at two different heights. In front of the toilet was a small sink which had a single, manually operated tap (no automatic sensors). The tap had a lever that twisted to control both the temperature and flow of the water. There was a sign by the tap warning the water may be hot, I didn’t find it was too much when I used it. Directly above the tap was a manual soap dispenser and above that was a small mirror but it was too high for me to see into from my seated position. On either side of the sink was a fixed, vertical grab rail. To the right of the sink was an automatic hand dryer. Opposite the toilet was a baby-changing table that could be folded down. There was a large bin beneath this for any nappies or similar waste. The red cord hung to the floor but I noticed that it seemed to be broken as the mechanism seemed to be detaching from the ceiling.

The staff seemed slightly understaffed when I arrived but made sure I was seated quickly and that I was happy and comfortable. I was told to just let them know if I needed any help which I appreciated.
