Since changing from Cineworld to Omniplex, they have removed two of the lifts from use increasing time taken for those unable to use escalators to access higher floors. Access to the building involves going through electronic gates that are very narrow, close quickly, with no marked area for wheelchair or mobility aid users (staff had to clear a path around their desk to bypass these gates) after passing the electronic gates, there are large metal gates that must be pushed open to get to the lift, as well as to leave the cinema. These gates are difficult for anyone with mobility issues to open, as well as of a height that they would likely hit a wheelchair users head swinging closed as they do not stay open. Access to the cinema screens is through heavy double doors. The disabled toilet on level 2 is very small, does not provide adequate room for a wheelchair to turn. Where a manual chair user could angle themselves for an unsafe transfer, larger Electric wheelchair users would be unable to unless some level of ambulatory.

    Disabled Access In and Around

    Poor

Access to initial entrance hall is wide and has automatic doors, there is a loft to all floors but it is small. Access to actual cinema blocked by electronic and manual gates unsuitable for a lone wheelchair user or mobility impaired visitor. No seating for rests besides at entrance. Escalators also provide access to all floors. All levels are flat after leaving lift/coming off Escalators

Accessible facilities: Lift to all areas, Step-free access to most areas

    Accessible Toilets

Accessible toilet was bare bones, and very small. No space for wheelchairs to turn, and no space for safe transfer unless some level of ambulatory. Wheelchairs would have to reverse in of hoping to access and transfer. Space for carer but not a lot and awkward positioning required to provide and care and help required.

Staff at desk had to be asked for help to access cinema and lifts after electronic gates proved to be too small and too quick to close for wheelchair, and had to clear space next to desk to allowed access. Staff at cinema screen were fantastic, ensuring we knew where to go as well as opening doors to access screen as well as help point us to wheelchair and carer seating location.
