Reopened in late 2023 following a major refurbishment, the library spans four floors and offers a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. You can explore an extensive collection of books, utilise the dedicated digital suite with free public computer access, or relax in the cosy reading nooks. The venue is family friendly, featuring a purpose built children’s library with a unique play structure and storytelling areas.

Accessibility highlights

The library provides level access from the High Street through automatic double doors. An internal lift is available to provide step free access to all floors of the building. Accessible toilets are located on the ground and second floors, while standard toilets are available on the first floor. The building also includes autism friendly information and a height adjusted counter at the entrance to support the requirements of different visitors.

Paisley Central Library

Library spread over 3 floors, but they have lift access to all floors, library is inside the pedestrian zone on Paisley high street, they have 23 pc's for public use, free WiFi, they can do printing for 10p a sheet for black and white, 30p for colour and free scanning. Currently outside seating is out of use but will hopefully be in use soon. Free phone charging points, plain carpets, so dementia friendly. Staff very helpful and pleasant.

A turn up for the books!

Paisley town centre is in the middle of a colossal revamp. A spectacular £100 million has been invested to upgrade Paisley Museum, Paisley Town Hall and most recently Paisley Central Library. Originally part of the museum at the top of the High Street, the old library was difficult to navigate, accessed by a steep ramp at the side of the building, which also functioned as the museum's only accessible entrance. Thankfully, that’s no longer the case as the library has been moved to a new location, on the same street but closer to the centre, accessed via ground level, with lifts to each floor and two accessible toilets. The library is now sleek and modern, but there is room for improvement, especially where signage and accessible toilets are concerned.
