This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Long Cane

Overview

Old country house hotel with welcoming staff and good food. Some narrow corridor and entrances which may cause problems with wheelchairs but generally is disabled accessible

Transport & Parking

3

I assume most would come by car. There are a few disabled spaces and 2 quite narrow spaces by the disabled side entrance

Access

4

The feeling br has f the hotel us accessed by steps which have a railing, there is nothing at front to indicate the disabled access which is at the side of the hotel near the mews rooms. This is a ramp and then A double door which takes you next to part of the kitchens and a rear staircase. However there is also an entrance to another bar restaurant which takes you to the main part of hotel. It would be helpful if this door had a disabled sign on it to indicate the way in. There is no lift in this hotel

Toilets

3

I have rated this 3 as I did not actually see it. When I asked for the toilets I was directed to the normal ladies which are on the flat but have quite a narrow entrance. They would not be wheelchair accessible. However after I asked I was told there is a disabled toilet in the rear of the function room , there is no obvious signage to this. Did not know easy it is to use if there’s a function on you’re not attending

Staff

4

Staff seemed helpful. However although they gave us a room near the disabled entrance we weren’t told about the entrance and found it ourselves.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

There is no lift in the hotel so unless you’re able to walk up 2 flights of stairs you’ll want to stay in the mews rooms outside the hotel, These have a lounge and a bedroom. The bathroom had a bath with shower over. There was only 1 disabled room which I did not see. That had a wet room. The mews rooms are generally suitable for disabled people but some have a high ridge which has to be stepped over to gain access to the front door which caused problems to my husband
