The Playhouse Whitley bay is a stunning contemporary theatre, with a 638 seat auditorium and based in the coastal resort of Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear. Having undergone a major and completed refurbishment by North Tyneside Council in 2009, this stunning contemporary theatre boasts an elegant glass foyer, front of house facilities, box office and bar facilities; in addition it also features a redesigned auditorium, new company room and chorus rooms. The transformation of the venue, situated on Marine Avenue, is a key part of North Tyneside Council's £64million regeneration programme for Whitley Bay. It has also become an integral part of the local community programme, regularly playing host to productions from local artistic and drama groups.

Whitley bay playHouse is a good Place to Visit the staff are very friendly and nice to get on with. They check hands bags for security and there nothing to worry about .

Disabled Access at Playhouse Whitley Bay

Accessible Seating: There are four designated wheelchair bays. The main auditorium is accessible by a ramp. There is a lift which travels to the first floor. Accessible Facilities: There are two accessible toilets located on the ground floor foyer. Accessible Parking: The free car park located next to the PLAYHOUSE has five Blue Badge Holder spaces. Personal Assistant Policy: Where a patron with disabilities requires a personal assistant to attend then the combined total cost for patron and personal assistant will be equivalent to full price of one ticket. Hearing 'T' Loop System: Please advise when booking if access to the ‘T’ loop system is required. Rows D – M are located within the ‘T’ Loop System. Assistance Dogs: Guide, hearing and other assistance dogs are welcome. Please be advised that some performances may have loud bangs; we recommend that show content is checked for suitability.
