Small train station.
Visit date:
Overview
This is a small train station between Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling. I found this station particularly good for signage and information about accessibility as there were large information boards listing station facilities, including hearing loops. The trickiest feature of this station I found was parking.
Transport & Parking
Parking isn't the easiest at Polmont Train Station. While there is a small car park immediately beside the ticket office, the large car park is tucked a little further away and is only at one platform side. Parking on the main road at the other side is very difficult, particularly as this is a narrow, busy road.
Access
Access is adequate in some places and good in others. It was great to see so much detailed information on the platform about accessibility, including the presence of a hearing loop at the ticket office. There are ramps for boarding trains and staff available to help with this. There is a long, wide ramp connecting the two platforms, but it is rather lengthy and involves joining the main road again, unlike the stepped foot ramp directly over the tracks. There are plenty of shelters at this station which is useful.
Toilets
I cannot comment on toilets as I didn't use any.
Staff
Staff are friendly and seem happy to help.
