Overall Rating
Good
This is a small park that is set around the impressive St George’s Church. There are two entrances to the park, one on St George’s Terrace which is step-free and the other on Mappin Street which has a flight of steps. The church is really beautiful and the park around it is really calm and peaceful, despite being in a busy area. It is a good spot to rest and relax.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
There are two entrances to the park, the one on St George’s Terrace is step-free and the one on Mappin Street has a flight of stairs. St George’s Church stands in the centre of the park and a concrete path loops around it and connects to the two entrances. The rest of the park is covered in grass with some of the grassy area being a graveyard. The grass is level around the church but it does slope downwards towards Mappin Street. The path is smooth and easy to navigate. At the step-free entrance there is a section of the flooring that has cobbles on the floor before the concrete path starts. These are quite old and therefore were quite uncomfortable for me to go over in my wheelchair.
Accessible facilities: Step-free entrance, Step-free access to most areas
Parking & Transport
Poor
I travelled to this place by walk or wheel
There is a bus stop on the north side of the park which is called Broad Lane/Beet Street where the buses 10, 95, 95s, and 181 stop. The University of Sheffield tram stop is roughly 350 metres from the park. From this stop, you can access trams on the blue and yellow services. The yellow services travel between Middlewood and Meadowhall. The blue services travel between Malin Bridge and Halfway.
