West Street tram stop
West Street tram stops are located in slightly different areas on the road depending on which direction you’re wanting to travel in. Both stops are visible from each other as they aren’t far away from each other.
It seemed like a fairly quiet tram stop compared to some others like Cathedral. The stops are on slightly elevated parts of the pavement, which means the pavement is level with the trams once they arrive. There was a small sheltered area that had information boards and some small benches to sit on. The edges of the stop had painted yellow lines and were also marked with tactile paving. There was additional tactile paving which went in the opposite direction to that marking the edge of the stop. These aligned with the most accessible doorways of the tram when it pulled in.
There was a digital board which told you which trams were expected along with approximate wait and arrival times for each one. There was a clear sign with the tram stop name on each end of the raised area and these had bins beneath them too.
Once the tram arrived, there was a small gap and lip to board but I found this still manageable with my wheelchair’s castor wheels and didn’t have any problems.
