This stunning glasshouse is located in Sheffield city centre just behind the town hall. It’s free to enter, has step-free access and is absolutely beautiful inside. You could enter from either side of the glasshouse and there were lots of plants, including some huge trees, growing throughout. There were places to sit amongst the foliage and there was also a small café with seating and some small shops with local small businesses selling items. I absolutely loved it here and would highly recommend visiting.

There was step-free access on both sides of the building. One set of doors opened automatically as you approached and the other side had buttons to make the doors open. The flooring inside was a well-laid stone tiling so it was nice and smooth to navigate. There were some inclines. One of the pathways from one of the entrances had a bit of an incline but it wasn’t too steep and it had grab rails on both sides of the ramp. There were some very small inclines on some of the pathways through the foliage but these were very minor. There was quite a lot of seating throughout the building, either benches in quiet spots or places to sit around the edge of the building. There was also seating around by the small café with tables and chairs. As it was a greenhouse it was quite warm inside. I didn’t find that it was overwhelming and unpleasant but in warmer weather it might feel like that. I also enjoy a warm space but if you prefer to be cooler then you may find it too warm. In the centre there was an entrance that led into the Millenium Gallery. This led into some of the exhibits and the gift shop and then had lifts and stairs down to street level on the other side. This could be used as another entrance and exit from the Winter Garden.

There were some volunteers around to answer any questions and staff at the café and the two small shops. Everyone was really lovely.
