Overview

The entrance has a narrow, manual door with a small step up (about 1 inch high). However, I had no real difficulty entering or leaving the shop on my own from a powered wheelchair. The space between the door and counter is small but still has room to comfortably move around in my wheelchair, and the counter is at a comfortable height to chat to staff. The upper floor where tattoos are done is up a flight of steep and narrow stairs, but the staff are more than willing to bring a tattoo station downstairs for those that need it. Behind the counter there is plenty of room to move around, and depending on where the tattoo is being done, remaining in a wheelchair throughout the procedure is possible. The consent form is relatively small black text printed on white paper, but if asked staff are more than happy to read it out to you. Thornton Arcade is fully accessible, although the steep slope of the street may make pushing a manual wheelchair tricky. The surrounding streets and shopping areas are all highly accessible, including the shops they recommend for purchasing after-care products.

Transport & Parking

Limited disabled parking is available on King Charles Street, just off the Headrow, and is close by. There are several car parks with disabled parking dotted around the city centre. The parlour is also very close to multiple bus stops, the bus station, and the train station.

Access

Difficult but perfectly manageable. Staff are happy to provide assistance and are very accommodating.

Toilets

There is no disabled toilet in the parlour, but the nearest shopping centre is less than 100 metres away, and has two disabled toilets, one of which includes full changing facilities.

Staff

The staff are all friendly and accommodating, and went to great lengths to make me feel welcome. The same can also be said of the other clients that were entering and exiting the shop while my tattoo was being done.
