Overview

Solihull is a nice little town not far from Stratford apon Avon, and ideal tourist base for Stratford, Warwick castle and Kenilworth castle It’s an up market town with good housing, and pleasant shopping area for those smaller type of shops. Touchwood centre has the usual brands but also a few nice newcomers, we have found some nice little bargains over the years, so well worth going to check out what you can find. OUR REVIEW We suggest you park in the Touchwood car park as it’s easy enough for your carer, up by a lift, and then all on the level. Park as close as you can to the “Shops” sign (photo 1) and take lift up to shops level (photo 2) which will immediately get you out into the shops (3) and although this is just a typical shopping mall as you see all over the country, Touchwood is better though as it it nicely laid out with attractive little spots to look at, worth visiting (4) and you simple walk around following the crowds (5) where you will also find places to sit and relax, other malls don’t always provide seating like these. Each store is nicely laid out with attractive window shopping, we like that, it’s free (6) and soon you find yourself out on the pleasant pedestrianised street, wide so you can avoid the crowds pushing past you (7) and along the way you will arrive at the square (8) a small passage will take you to the square with bigger shops, but interesting types, but we have no photo for you as it was raining a little, and we don’t like the wheelchairs seat getting wet, it gets right up my bu…. But if you continue ahead instead, you reach the rather attractive old buildings of Solihull, with smaller shops inviting you in (photo 9) and here, if you have not popped in for a quick drink at the Inn, then turn around and walk back along the shops (10) before going back into Touchwood and return to your car OUR FINAL THOUGHTS We certainly like it, we go back again and again, we just like Solihull. There are interesting shops, all the usual brand names, it’s always busy with character and well looked after, clean and inviting. You have the choice of being indoors or go outside for a nice bit of fresh air, there are big shops and small intimate shops, places to stop and have a drink, and it’s nice and compact

Transport & Parking

4.5

We suggest the main Touchwood car park, but a little costly, minimum of £2.50, or have a cup of coffee at the Crowne Plaza, REGISTERING YOUR CAR AT RECEPTION DESK, and walk across through the gardens to Touchwood shops. Mind you, it is hard work for your carer this way, it’s uphill, round and round gardens with a huff and a puff on the way, but it’s cost free, well, not really because you have had to enjoy a decent cup of coffee at the hotel.

Parking in Touchwood is easy, lots of parking and make sure you park as near to the “Shops” sign as you can. A lift will take you up to shop level, then it’s nice and level for the rest of the day.

Toilets
