Overview

There are certainly more lush green spaces in Leeds, but if you need a little bit of grass close-by while exploring the southern end of Leeds city centre near the station, this is a decent spot for a wee rest.

Transport & Parking

The park is not far from the station, but downhill and through a tunnel from it. Considering how central it is, it is surprising how few bus stops there are in the vicinity. (The closest would be Station E.) There is, however, some on-street parking on Sovereign Street. The Q-Park Sovereign Street multi-storey carpark is right next to the park (although the exit is on the other side of the car park) and the Trinity multi-storey is also close-by.

Access

2.5

There is level access into the park coming from the side of Swinegate (northeast), but there are two to three steps on the other side with occasional railings. There is a lot of seating, but only one proper park bench (metal slats with back and armrests), the rest being low concrete walls of varying heights, some with wooden covers and some with armrests, but no backrests. When I visited, there was a trench in the paving with a whole row of stones missing on the southwestern edge of the park, but hopefully that's not permanent. It is worth keeping in mind that there was no signage or barriers, so do watch out.

Toilets

0

There are no toilets at this venue, but there are many pubs and restaurants in the area. The closest Changing Places toilets are at Leeds Station and Trinity shopping centre.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Google Maps says that the park closes at 5.30pm, but I cannot see how that would be possible, since there are no walls or fences separating it from the sidewalk.
