The Mousetrap - St. Martins Theatre - Old Theatre but exceptional staff.

The Mousetrap, the longest running play in the World! This London West End production is performed in the St. Martins Theatre. The theatre is an old west end theatre and as such was never designed or built with accessibility in mind. However, for myself as a manual wheelchair user, I managed to enjoy this experience. The building does have a number of steps in from the pavement and further steps inside in order to get to the Dress Circle seats/spaces allocated as accessible. The two wonderful members of the theatre staff were more than happy to get out their portable ramp and push me up this ramp before the performance, during the interval and at the end of the performance. I then transferred into a theatre seat to watch the performance, however they are able to remove one or more seats to accommodate an individual who prefers or needs to stay in their own chair. There is a 'small' accessible toilet with a step free, street level entrance. the staff were more than happy to bring my wheelchair back to me at the interval and using the ramp get me out to street level to use the facilities and then assist me in returning to my seat for the second half. Yes, it's not perfect due to being such an old building but the staff go out of their way to overcome as much of the obstacles as possible.

Classic Agatha Christie in historic St Martin's Theatre with Step Free Access to Dress Circle

Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap is a classic whodunit and the world's longest running play. St Martin's Theatre is a historic theatre and the staff facilitate access by putting ramps down to enable step free access to the foyer and dress circle.
