Overview

I visited Starbucks today, October 2021, the layout is still inaccessible despite promises made by the Regional Manager last year (February 2020), to address this after the BBC had got involved. Please see my review from last year.

Transport & Parking

Starbucks is on the ground floor of St Pancras International Station. The nearest tube station is King's Cross and it has step free access. Several buses routes stop very close by.

Access

0

There is a wide open doorway and level entry. This is the only thing I can say positively about access. The high stools and chairs are still inside. Outside there are some regular table and chairs, this is in a very drafty part of the concourse.

Toilets

0

Starbucks don't have accessible toilets but there are accessible toilets in the station and opposite at King's Cross Station there is also a Changing Places toilet. I didn't use the toilet during my vsiit.

Unhelpful. I had to manage 2 queues with my crutch. The first moved quite quickly. The man who served me took my order and then asked if I would like anything else. I said I would have liked a hot chocolate but I can't carry it outside with my other items. He laughed at me and said he was just asking. I found is laughter very in appropriate and insensitive. I was on my own inside the cafe and he did not offer any assistance to carry my food/ drinks outside, and in doing so lost money for Starbucks as I would have spent more if the venue and staff had not been so ableist. I then had to queue up again to collect my hot food. There was not suitable seating for me to wait at as all the stools were high. I feel the staff require disability awareness training. People should not laugh at disabled people when they are pointing out how inaccessible a venue is and and offer of help would have been very appriciated.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I found the whole experience very unhelpful and very upsetting.
