Overview

Visited the first time in January, then again later in the year for the Van Gogh exhibition. We'll definitely be back, you can't see a place like this all in one visit. If Van Gogh was anything to go by, the special exhibitions will be well worth going back for too.

Transport & Parking

5

Travelled from out of London by car, so disabled parking was essential. Five blue badge spaces in the staff carpark, should be booked at least 24hr ahead. Set SatNav to John Islip Street rather than to the main entrance. Staff car park is not obvious, so keep a good eye out.

Access

5

Access to the gallery from disable parking spaces is through the staff entrance, so you get to be escorted into the public area. Staff are very helpful, lifts very spacious. My husband uses a mobility scooter, and we had no difficulty getting to any galleries, special exhibitions, cafe and restaurant. As in any popular exhibition, we have to be careful with the scooter in crowds, but there was plenty of space to manoeuvre. On one visit some lifts were out of order, so we couldn't visit the members area, but otherwise no problems.

Toilets

5

No clear recollection of the toilets, husband often leaves scooter outside and uses the Gents, so maybe we didn't see the accessible loo. Whatever we used, no problems.

Staff

Signage was good, but occasionally we had to ask where the appropriate lift was - staff always very happy to help.
