    About

The most popular gallery of modern and contemporary art outside London, Tate Liverpool is the home of the National Collection of Modern Art in the North: a colourful, creative, inspirational gallery. Combining four floors of modern and contemporary art in one of the Albert Dock’s bright, airy former warehouses, it shows work from both the Tate collection, and special exhibitions bringing together painting, photography, sculpture and installations from national and international collections, public and private. Mixing modern classics with cutting-edge contemporary, you’ll find yourself re-visit

    Good staff but tight squeeze

The staff were lovely. However the lifts were very difficult to get an electric wheelchair in the lift (we managed eventually) and the changing place was very small with the bed only having excess from one side. But the staff were lovely and the expeditions were well spaced with no worry of accidently damaging anything.

Horrendous cobbles outside but fully accessible on the inside

The cobbles on the listed paving outside are not comfortable but once you are inside, it is a smooth, pleasant journey with lifts to each floor. Some great art, gift shop and a cafe.

    Matisse in Focus

I was part of a guided group for visually impaired people around the exhibition of Matisse in Focus. We had two guides, one lady gave us an explanation of the historical context of the painting or sculpture, the other gave us a visual description of each piece of work. They were both friendly and welcoming and gave great information in an accessible way of the whole exhibition. I was very impressed with the quality of the tour and enjoyed the exhibition greatly. Thankyou so much for a wonderful experience.
