Good
Teasy Does It is located in Heaton, a suburb of Newcastle. Delicious food, pleasant interior, reasonable access from street. There is a ground floor loo, accessible with care on foot only. Really lovely tea rooms with superbly friendly and helpful staff.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
There's a low threshold with a small ramped entrance (see photo). Inside there's a smooth wooden floor. There's room to get a wheelchair through the door, I would think (though I was on foot today) and definitely room for one at the tables by the window. As it's narrower at the rear, a wheelchair wouldn't fit there - however most of the tables are towards the front. As the loo's right at the back, it's a bit tight getting through on crutches but definitely possible with care.
Parking & Transport
Good
Although there's no designated blue badge parking outside, there's plenty of on street parking. We parked virtually outside the door on a single yellow line using my blue badge. Buses must pass quite close by though I'm not sure how close they stop.
Accessible Toilets
Poor
No dedicated loo. However there's a single loo on the ground floor, accessible if you can walk. There's a small step (half an inch?) down from the tea room to the lobby leading to the loo. This lobby and the loo have vinyl flooring which is quite slippery so care needed if using crutches or sticks. The door is a little stiff but not heavy - I managed it unaided. No grab rails but a ledge to one side and wash hand basin on the other provided enough support for me.
Staff
Excellent
Lovely staff. Someone went ahead (unasked) to make sure the loo was unoccupied and door open for me - then dried off the floor which had some moisture on it so I wouldn't slip on it. Really appreciated their consideration.
Additional Information
Good home cooked food, reasonably priced. Will go again next time I'm in the area. Dog friendly too.
