As we had not been to this place since before lockdown, my wife and I visited to check out wheelchair access for a forthcoming family get together (my wife uses a wheelchair). We arrived at the car park and parked in what we think was a disabled bay - it is hard to be sure because the driveway paint was worn away and there was no signing. We noticed there were lots of signs saying we had to pay for parking but could not see a ticket machine. There was a sloping path up to the entrance but this was quite narrow and sloped to one side in places, making it quite difficult (almost dangerous) to use. We found the ticket machine just outside the entrance but it only took coins not cards or even notes. We had no coins with us but thought a brief visit such as ours would not incur a charge. We were not there long - just long enough to unload the wheelchair, look at the inside and outside of the restaurant and then load the wheelchair back up and leave. Maybe 20 minutes. Because wheelchair access was confined to the central bar area (there was only stepped access to the garden and the lower areas with better views) we did not stay for even a drink. Imagine our shock to later receive a demand for a £100 penalty fee! Needless to say we are not using this place for our family get together (which would have earned them considerably more than £100) - nor for any other reason ever again. We will also avoid all Chef & Brewer pubs and restaurants.

Slope to entrance steep and uneven and very narrow. Once inside only a limited part of the restaurant is wheelchair accessible - none of the garden.

Pay car park accepting only coins. Poor signing for disabled bay.
