    Hidden Access to great food

At first I saw the big step and thought the Bothy was not accessible to wheelchair users at all. But if you go into the Outdoor store next door, there is access through into the Bothy. You will need someone to open the door for you unless you are very able to do this yourself. It is a wee bit of a tight squeeze but I promise you it's worth it, the food is amazing, as is the shortbread. I was served by a very friendly guy at the counter and then a lovely waitress. They couldn't have been more helpful. There is a really nice log burner which is lit on really cold days and a fan is used to distribute the heat. In summer, it's just the fan, obviously. The Bothy is well worth a visit. The only down side is the toilet. It's one cubical for all which I appreciate as I'm not made to feel separated or "special" having to visit different facilities from everyone else. However this is it's only redeeming feature. From an access point of view it's not great. Very cramped. You can just about fit a wheelchair in and possibly a very slender carer. There is no way to turn your wheelchair around to close the door, you'll need assistance. The grab rails look like they have never been cleaned and under the sink, where my knees brushed against it, was pure filth, the layout is awful. The (empty) soap dispenser and hand dryer are in awkward places. It urgently needs a refurbishment. If that could also add a few cm to the width I would rate it higher. The staff, although lovely, were super busy serving food and I didn't have the energy to explain all the issues with the bathroom so I left. Dogs are not allowed in the Bothy.

    Lunch with family

We. Stopped here for lunch when visiting the town. There is a step up into the shop too steep for the wheelchair.I was about to get out and my family help me up the step.I didn’t have my crutches with me .we had left them in our car.when a member of staff came to the door and told us wheelchair access was via the shop next door.(an outdoor clothing shop) . Once in this shop it’s just through an arch into the coffee shop. Which was busy but just enough room to get around . We all had scones and hot drinks .the scones were very nice . There was plenty of choice on the menu to suit all tastes . Staff brought our drinks over for us while my family helped me get my coat off and settled. Would certainly go back now we know how to get into the coffee shop .
