A Great Cake Place with Disabled Accessible Toilet Near Covent Garden

Overview

The Delaunay Counter is a café in the style of a Viennese Coffee House, located on The Aldwych, serving savoury food but their speciality is their Austrian cakes, such as apple strudel, Black Forest gateau and sachertorte (chocolate cake). It's got good disabled access as it's steps free, has a disabled accessible toilet and helpful staff.

Transport & Parking

The nearest tube stations are Holborn, Covent Garden or Charing Cross. As it's located on the Aldwych there are several buses that stop directly outside of the café. I travelled on public transport.

Access

4.5

There's steps free access from the street into the café. The café is on the ground floor and all on one level. There are free standing table and chairs. There is a large counter with a food display. I think the part of the counter where the till is would most likely be too high for a wheelchair user.

Toilets

5

There is a large, disabled accessible toilet with grab rails and alarm.

Staff

5

The café is usually very busy but staff are always friendly and helpful. When I went with my friend we both had walking aides and the staff checked that the seating was comfortable for us.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Food is available for take away and at Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc they make seasonal sweet treats. This is one of my favourite cafes in London and food is reasonably priced.
