The Grand Hotel

Stayed for one night. Purely focussing on accessibility here. I have used a wheelchair and now use a stick. Steps steps steps! The lifts are tiny, I wouldn't want to try and get a wheelchair into them. It's messy in the public areas. People are loud and inconsiderate! No grab rails in the bathrooms and slippery floors. Its under staff and those that are working are clearly fed up. Locked access into the building and yeah what looks like a staff entrance being used a wheelchair route! Worrying degree of fire safety with no escape plans on the walls, smell of smoking and burnt plugs in the restaurant area. It is a grand old building but I really don't recommend staying.

Had the misfortune to stay here for a week! The access to this hotel was near impossible using a rollator Id have gone home if I’d been in a wheelchair. Small lifts only one working while we were there long queues and packed to the gunnels. Access to the dining room was via another lift. Poor turning circle to access dining room meal service buffet style impossible to access and many tables inaccessible I was shouted at by a waiter as I was unable to get to a table that was set and he didn’t want to be bothered cleaning and setting a table I could access! The disabled access from the front is very much the tradesman’s entrance and I object to having to struggle past bins and cages of dirty laundry. The hotel in general was filthy. Avoid at all cost.
