Overview

The Hub was a great place to visit. With automatic doors at the entrance and a platform lift and conventional lift to take you between levels you could see everywhere. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Transport & Parking

3

Parking isn’t great for the hub but there are a couple of accessible spaces at the top of Johnston Terrace. Slightly hindered by the absence of a dropped kerb to the pavement in front of the Hub. The gateway to the Hub could do with some remedial works to iron out the rough and lumpy concrete forming the threshold.

Access

4.5

Once inside, getting around was easy and there were plenty of staff to help point the way. You can wheel in to the booking office, or perhaps pop in to the cafe for refreshments. Or as we did; head off to the event space if you’re attending an event. The spaces were interesting and the main hall an unexpected experience as you’d never imagine such a large and ecorative space sat at the top of the building. We particularly liked being able to get up to the gallery level and look down on proceedings. That felt good as usually wheelchair users end up looking up at things so to look down and see everything was great.

Toilets

There are a couple of good accessible loos. On diff end floors which was handy.

Staff

As is often the way, staff made our visit ... we enjoyed meeting them and hearing their stories from the building’s past and how it is used today. It was good to learn more about the Edinburgh International Festival and how they use the space when the festival is on.

A good spot if you are visiting the Royal Mile to take a break.
