Overview

A great place to eat, good value food, wine, beer, wine and spirits. Very family and disability friendly, if you or your children have special food needs, tell them either when you book or walk in from the street. The have a detailed list of potential problem foods and will cater for this. I learned this via a family who had a young child with very limited diet. They bent over themselves to help, and the family had a great meal and a great time. Separate disabled/wheelchair access. If booked/reserved, they can easily provide easily accessible tables, also, if you go in on most days, the lower level is available and the staff will sort you out. Food/ drink is ordered from the bar, if you have someone who can go to the bar to say you are disabled, or pre-book, they are more than happy to provide table service and end of meal payment. Menu goes from Bar-Snacks, great Burgers to Main courses with options. Great value. Main problem if you are a wheelchair user, you need help to get up to, and down from, disabled toilet, due to skew wiff ramp. DO NOT rely on rails, as they come away under weight. Have, and will, revisit, as minor problems are overcome by great atmosphere, food and staff.

Transport & Parking

3.5

Accessed by private hire company, who can drop off/ pick up within 20 metres or less. Ample parking available in area, within 10-15 minutes travel. Access routes untarmacked, slabs and decorative surfaces, so uneven and angled down from centre. you may to have to take a short rest or 2 if you are pushing yourself in wheelchair. If travelling by Bus, bus stop about 10 meters from entrance.

Access

4

Lower level disabled access, standard width door. Good number of dining tables available on this level, staff will adapt areas without complaint and are disability aware, plus extremely pleasant and attentive. Access to toilets requires wheelchair assistance, staff will happily help if asked. In the absence of staff, customers are very helpful!

Toilets

4

Well laid out, slightly tight for wheelchair, though far better than others I have used, it is an older building. Generally, very clean, just some clean bits of toilet paper/towels on floor, blame previous users. Access from lower area requires assistance if using wheelchair, ramp less than perfect. Overall, better than many I have found in new builds, do they ever ask potential users!

Staff

4.5

Staff are welcoming and understanding. Very pleasant and engaging, disability is not an issue, just another customer requirement, you do not feel awkward, just welcome.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

It is obviously a sports pub, but not intrusively so. There are screens showing sky sports in the lower dining areas, with sound turned off. Main sound is good, easy to listen to and understand, modern music(I am 49), with a smallish screen showing videos. If you want the sports experience, get help to reach the upper level and more tables plus a large Beer Garden. If it wasn't for the really awkward ramp, this would be a solid 5 Star, great quality pub grub pub, with a fantastic family atmosphere.
