I am lucky enough to be able to walk,(I have COPD),so I could just about manage to negotiate the 6 steps from the foyer up to the auditorium. However my friend who is wheelchair bound, was told he couldn't use the wheelchair lift as it had been out of order for some time. In fairness, the Playhouse staff couldn't do enough to help, but they told me that in spite of many requests to North Somerset council, (who own the building), for the lift to be repaired or replaced, there had been no action. Last week I tried to book disabled seats for my chair-bound friend and myself, but the lift is still out of use. It has been nearly 12 months, and I feel that Covid is no longer a valid excuse, and because of the discrimination laws, any economic consideration is irrelevant. Come on North Somerset, extract that digit!
