The Resident Edinburgh is a 164 hotel, ideally located in the West End of Edinburgh. Our rooms are designed to feel like a stylish home away from home. As you enter you are welcomed into a hall leading into a mini-kitchen which includes microwave, sink, kettle, Nespresso machine, fridge and crockery, cutlery and glassware. Each room is carefully crafted with your needs in mind. There is a vanity area within the bedroom, that seamlessly connects to the ensuite. The Resident Edinburgh offers stylish spaces designed for comfort and connection. Guests are invited to relax in the lounge, complete with beautiful fireplace and ample seating. For a cosier retreat, the Library provides a serene space to catch up on work, unwind or read a book.

Atmospheric hotel with thoughtful access and room to improve

We at Euan's Guide were invited to visit The Resident, a newly opened hotel in Edinburgh’s city centre. The hotel has brand-new facilities and is taking access seriously, though there’s still work to be done. The manager was refreshingly open to feedback and enthusiastic about joining Euan’s Guide, which in itself speaks volumes. It’s rare to meet someone genuinely excited to hear criticism. Each room includes a sink, microwave, and mini fridge - intended to help “everyone feel like a resident.” There’s no in-house dining, as the manager noted they wanted to highlight Edinburgh’s vibrant food scene instead.

Disabled Access at The Resident Edinburgh

The Resident Edinburgh has been designed with accessibility a key focus. There is a small ramp up to the automatic doors at the entrance to the property. Should you be arriving by car we have two accessible spaces at the rear of the hotel that lead through via a gate to the back entrance where an intercom can be used to enter into the property. The Lobby and Library have ample space for the mobility of wheelchairs with doorways also wide enough to navigate through. An accessible toilet is also available on the ground floor. There are two lifts within the property, both allowing for wheelchair use. We have 8 accessible rooms, one located on each level from Ground to Level 7. The Accessible bedrooms have dropped mini-kitchen areas to ensure all items are available for use. The bed configuration can be either King or Twin. There are two pull cords beside the bed and one within the wet room. The wet room is a roll in shower area with fold down shower seat attached to the wall. There are two sinks available within the wet room, one being at a lower height. In case of an emergency we have two refuge points on each floor and have two evacuation chairs which we have staff trained to use.

We have two blue badge holder parking bays at the rear of the hotel. There is then direct access on a flat surface into the rear of the property via an intercom at the back door.
