Venue Description

The Treehouse is Sheffield's first board game café, a friendly, welcoming space for gamers both new and experienced to explore our library of over 800 board games, with expert staff on hand to make game recommendations and help with the rules. Alongside the games, we serve a wide variety of drinks including draft craft beer and barista-style coffee, plus a café-style food menu with an emphasis on local producers and suppliers. Inclusivity is hugely important to us at the Treehouse, and we work hard to ensure that everyone is made to feel welcome and can access what we offer. Our venue is fully wheelchair accessible with an accessible loo on the ground floor. Gender-neutral toilet facilities are clearly labelled too. We can cater for most food allergies and dietary requirements, with a particularly large selection of vegan options. All ages are welcome - our library contains games suitable for ages 3 and up and we offer a kids' menu with game recommendations by age group. The only restriction is that under-18s need to depart by 9pm due to the terms our alcohol licence.

Accessibility

The venue is on a single level and is step-free throughout, with the exception of the main loos which are downstairs (there is an accessible toilet on the main level). There are two sets of double doors at the entrance with a wide, shallow ramp in between. The doors are not power-assisted but the entrance is in view of the bar and so our team are on hand to provide help if needed. The space is zoned into areas with two smaller rooms at the front of the venue. The narrower door into these rooms is approximately a standard house door width (around 80cm) and may be a squeeze for larger wheel chairs.

Awards List

We currently have a five star rating on Tripadvisor and are in the top 20 restaurants in Sheffield. We also have a rating of 4.9/5 on Google from over 1k reviews.

Toilets

The accessible toilet is located at the rear of the venue next to the game shelves. It is equipped with grab rails, a lowered sink and a panic cord at floor level.

Staff

Our staff are always on hand to provide game recommendations, including making suggestions for games that would work for people with visual or hearing impairments, language barriers, learning disabilities and other special requirements. Our menus can all be viewed online in a format which is compatible with screen readers, including our games taster menu which includes game suggestions by player count with guidance on how to play.

Assistance dog facilities

Assistance dog exercise facilities

We are a dog-friendly venue so all dogs are welcome. We are located in a city centre so there are no off-lead exercise options close by. Sheffield General Cemetery is the closest option and is around 10 minutes' walk away.

Other assistance dog facilities

We have a dog bowl and are happy to provide water.
