Waterside hotel, no view
I took my mum in her wheelchair for a night away as she was desperate to see the seaside and had been in and out of hospital for a year. She has only recently found herself having to use a wheelchair so it is all new to both of us. I really struggled to find the right accommodation, with wheelchair and disabled access toilet - with a Seaview!
The hotel itself was lovely, the room had a g great disabled toilet, partial sea view, but only for me as the bottom half of the window had special safety stickers so my mum could not see out. The hotel is right on the water so you would think there would definitely be an outside area you could see the sea, sadly not. The outside area had a large hedge surrounding it and from a wheelchair sitting position you could see nothing! My mum was disappointed. I asked the staff where I could walk along and let my mum see the ocean. The
suggested I go through the loose stone car park, which I did, no mean feat pushing the wheelchair! Only to find the access to beach, down a sandy embankment, squeezing though the hedge!! Obviously no good to us! So we stayed in the hotel, food was lovely, disabled toilet in restaurant, great access. Unfortunately If you want to see the sea and are in a wheelchair this is not the place for you! We went to the promenade in the next town and finally got to see the ocean!
