Venue Description

Tiree Ranger Service offers the use of two off-road adaptable wheelchairs for our guests free of charge. The Hippocampe is ideal for children and small adults, with low level seating. Option 1 = standard rear wheels for grass Option 2 = balloon tyres for the beach. The Nomad is a light weight beach chair, suitable for children and adults. Seating is similar to a standard wheelchair. Both units are available to book through the Tiree Ranger Service on a first-come-first-served basis. The Ranger office is located in The Island Centre, Crossapol. The units are stored at Tiree Rural Centre, Crossapol. Please note that these chairs are not motorised: Guests will require assistance during their use. Tiree Ranger Service strives to eliminate unfair discrimination and promote equality. Accessibility

The Tiree Ranger Service office is accessed through two sets of ground level double doors. These doors are not automatic. If you think you might require assistance, please call our office on: 01879 220 074

Toilets

One accessible toilet is available at the Tiree Ranger Office, The Island Centre. This toilet is available for disabled guests to use during office hours (09:00 - 16:00 Monday to Friday; also open from 09:00 - 12:30 Saturday and Sunday in July and August only). The door to this facility is not automated. Grab handles have been installed.

Staff

The Ranger will demonstrate use of the adapted wheelchairs and advise guests on safe access to different parts of the island.

Due to the widespread presence of ground nesting birds and livestock on Tiree, all dogs must be exercised responsibly in accordance with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
