    Travelodge Inverness

    Inverness

Great Travelodge... if you don't have mobility issues.

    Date of visit: March 2026

I am a disabled person. I have experience of challenges around: accessing toilets and moving around.

I use or have experience of: disabled toilet, wheelchair

Spacious enough room. Very low beds.Plenty room to manoeuvre. Note the spare pillows in the wardrobe... too high to reach if you're in a wheelchair.En suite toilet... too low and lacking in grab-rails.So-called accessible shower

This hotel is everything good about the Travelodge brand and everything you'd expect. However, its claimed "accessible" room was utterly lacking. I'll expand on this in the extra details but suffice to say there is no way I would have classed my room as accessible. It was large and spacious enough to manoeuvre my wheelchair around but, as well as the major problems with the bathroom, the bed was far too low for easy transfer on and off. The pluses are that, other than that, it's exactly what you want from a Travelodge. It's quiet, basic and clean, in a great position close to a great pub/restaurant and the amenities of the nearby retail park. There's no attached restaurant but there is a vending machine for snacks and cold drinks and, obviously, coffee/tea making facilities in the room which can be topped up from a tray in the reception area. The room has a Freeview TV. One niggle was the lack of plug sockets by the bed. Overall, I would be happy to use this Travelodge again. The accessibility issues were not insurmountable, just extremely disappointing in this day and age.

    Disabled Access In and Around

    Poor

Accessibility around the public areas of the hotel was satisfactory. My room was on the ground floor but there is a lift to the upper floors. None of the exterior or interior doors are automatic and very difficult to get through without assistance. However, all of the staff, including the receptionist and cleaners, were quick to offer help. There is a slight ramp to the front door. One issue I did have was that some dropped kerbs on the pavements surrounding the hotel were not as low as they should be, making them very difficult to negotiate. The room itself was quite spacious and I had no problems manoeuvring in my wheelchair. There was a call bell beside the bed. However, the bed was far too low for a hassle-free transfer and the spare pillows were out of reach on a high shelf.

Accessible facilities: Step-free entrance, Lift to all areas

    Accessible Toilets

There are no public toilets. The alleged "accessible" en-suite bathroom was anything but. A lowered bath is still a bath and inaccessible for anyone with mobility issues. Further, the grab-rail set-up at the toilet itself is wholly inadequate, with no vertical rails to enable safe transfer. Shoving in a wobbly side rail is not enough to claim it to be accessible. Let's just say that I'm glad I had taken my urinal... There was also no call bell in the bathroom.
