Overview

Trevase Granary is a great place for a holiday with a disabled person. Our family goes there every summer with our children and grandchildren and the fact that my husband is wheelchair bound following a stroke doesn’t stop him being included. A spacious ground floor bedroom with TV has a large wet room attached and there’s a stair lift to take him upstairs to the living and dining area. On fine days he can be wheeled over to the games room and garden. We’ve had some memorable barbecues there, and afterwards enjoyed watching the children play on the lawn or entertain us with a holiday pop group in the games room. The owners couldn’t be more helpful. They lend us small equipment such as a commode chair and toilet surround and help us to find firms that hire out care beds, riser recliner chairs and also a home care service which means that my husband is as comfortable as he is at home and looking after him is as easy as possible. We look forward very much to our family get together where grandpa, despite his disabilities, can still be at the centre of the family.

Transport & Parking

there is parking adjacent to the building. As it is in the middle of the country visitors would need their own transport.

Access

the venue including the separate games room and garden are all wheelchair accessible. The stair lift meant that the ground floor bedrooms and the first floor lounge/dining rooms and kitchen were also accessible.

Toilets

The loo in the wet room next to the downstairs bedroom has a handrail adjacent. The owners provided a raised toilet surround for our visit. there is plenty of space to manoeuvre in.

Staff

There are no staff but the owners live very near and are always most helpful. We always get a good welcome and a basket of local produce.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

We have been going there every year for about 10 years and there is plenty for everyone of all ages to do, cycling, canoeing, visiting castles, etc. The separate games room means that youngsters can play music and be generally noisy without disturbing the older members of the party. We would definitely recommend it to other people. We are booked to go back again this year..
