Overall Rating
Good
Joined a pre-booked guided tour of Uppark House (National Trust property). The car park is free for National Trust members and there is disabled parking. There is a gravel pathway leading from the car park to the house. The ground floor of the house is level access throughout. The guide was very informative. There is a lift down to the servants quarters below. There is an accessible toilet in the bookshop adjoined to the cafe. There is a large step between the two rooms which my helper enabled me to go down, but there is a short accessible route around the building if needed (hope it's not raining).
Disabled Access In and Around
I was able to access all areas on the tour apart from the last stage which was a tunnel between the main house and the old kitchen in another building. A lift was used between the ground floor and the servants quarters underneath. This had two staff members to help me with.
Accessible facilities: Lift to some areas, Step-free entrance, Seating at regular intervals, Step-free access to most areas
Parking & Transport
Good
My family and I parked in the car park and I wheeled down to the house. Parking is free for National Trust members. There were EV charging points. Another visitor joining our tour group and using walking sticks was dropped off at the front of the house to reduce the walk from the car park.
Accessible facilities: Electric Vehicle Charging, Drop-off or pick up point, Dedicated on-site parking
Accessible Toilets
Good
The accessible toilet which was also used for baby changing. This was at the back of the bookshop, in the cafe building.
Facilities: Accessible toilet
Staff
Excellent
Guide was very informative and there was someone on hand to help me both enter and exit the lift. This is important as the lift is quite small with space for just me and my wheelchair.
