Always enjoy coming to this venue

    Date of visit: September 2019

I have experience of challenges around: moving around and speaking or communicating.

Quite a spacious venue. Booths towards the right of the photo. Kitchen to the left.Choice of grab rails - the vertical or the other that folds down. As you can see, you may need to move stuff around to accommodate your chair or assistance.Lift up lock. Easy. From the door way, hopefully gives an indication of the amount of maneuvering space you have. Basically a rectangle.Cord reaches down to the floor. Just me or would you rather it be on the other side where if you did fall you could reach? Horizontal bar with the sink the other side of it.

    Good

When you enter it's quite a heavy glass door. There's a flight of stairs with a platform lift to the left. A member of staff will get the key to operate the lift for you.

    Disabled Access In and Around

    Rating Emoji

    Excellent

Platform lift to the left of the door. Only thing that would have made it more accessible would be to have a level entrance. There are the trademark benches of Wagamamas which are slightly too high for me. There are lower tables which I prefer but hard to get if it's really busy. Also window booths but definitely not an accessible option if staying in chair.

    Parking & Transport

    Rating Emoji

    Good

It's central and on Lothian Road so accessible via bus and a short roll from the tram stop either Shandwick or Princes Street. There is now a drop curb just in front of it with perhaps a couple of centimeters in height which makes accessibility much better than it used to be.

    Accessible Toilets

    Rating Emoji

    Good

Quite small but there is an emergency cord. Tiled flooring which doesn't help much if you're unstable on your feet or it's wet. Easy lock and doesn't require a radar key. It does double as a changing room and folk do use it instead of going down a flight of stairs to the other toilets. There's an exterior door and then a door into the toilet. The space crested by this is used as storage for high chair so can get a bit cluttered and limit your turning circle.

    Staff

    Rating Emoji

    Good

Staff are well trained and friendly. They're happy to help get a colleague if they can't operate the lift themselves.
