    Disappointed that it was shut

    The Washington Monument is closed until spring 2019. The National Park Service is modernizing the elevator to increase long term reliability and safety. We did you get to view the Washington monument ( the tallest building in Washington ) from the outside . Gutted that we could not go to the viewing gallery .
