Overview

Host have tried hard to make this a pleasant place to stay. Not as quiet or private as we would have liked. The walks on the doorstep were lovely via country lanes which were very quiet. Envied able-bodied as they could access beautiful looking country walks from the site itself. Plenty of farm animals adjacent and birds kept on site to entertain us. Beds very comfortable and wet room excellent. The lighting in the sitting room is inadequate and they have tried to rectify this but we still found it hard to read in the evening. The kitchen layout is very strange and limited, which did make me feel seriously frustrated.

Transport & Parking

Gravel parking area which was deep in places. Several feet to negotiate in a powerchair. Some birds wandering about which were more entertaining than problematic.

Access

Doors wide enough although furniture a little near to the door resulting in dining chairs having to be moved.

Toilets

Fully equiped although the loo was quite high.

Staff

Owners were on holiday and friends were looking after the place.

We felt exposed because there were residents walking dogs passed the windows and children playing games outside the garden. The tv was quite small and together with the lighting problems in the room was not enjoyable. Entertainment felt directed at children rather than adults with mobility problems. We moved the microwave to create a safer working environment by making worksurface space adjacent to it. The kitchen was crammed into the corner and the layout most annoying. The owners work hard to make visits enjoyable but 4 nights here were long enough.
