Wightlink Ferry Port

This is the second time we've done the return trip to the Isle of Eight using this route. Both times I've booked special assistance and the ferry staff have been great. We used a ships wheelchair which was easy to locate (staff brought it out for us). We were given extra room on the passenger side of the car (were asked which side of the car we wanted it on when booking) to open the door fully and were put next to the lift. In the return journey a staff member was waiting at the lift and then on exiting the lift to show us where to go.

The ferry is well adapted but it is at the end of a very long pier when you get to the Isle of Wight. If you have not booked a taxi to collect you, I would say that the peer is about 500 m long. Not fun. If it is raining!

Access granted at short notice when 48 hours normally required (plenty of space near door to lift on car deck needs to be allowed for wheelchair access). Ramp for wheelchair provided and friendly, helpful staff checked all was ok throughout the crossing. Wightlink provide a very useful leaflet explaining what to do, with phone numbers etc.
