Visit to Arundel Castle
Fantastic day out for Mum, 89, who uses a rollator. The staff could not have been more helpful in ensuring that we saw as much of the castle and grounds as possible. There are buggy runs from the gate to the main entrance to the castle and around the grounds A member of the gardening team stopped, asked if they could help and radioed for a buggy to take us from the gardens back to the main entrance. There are lifts from the entrance to the main floor and then from the main floor to the second floor, but not up to the bedrooms. There are steps up to and within the Fitzalan Chapel, which mum managed to negotiate but this would be impossible for a wheelchair. While some parts of the garden have steps there are alternative ramped routes. Excellent accessible toilets. Lots of seating. Staff were really friendly - they just wanted all visitors to have a great day.
Parking is a council car park opposite the main entrance, with accessible toilets, but you need a universal key to use them.
