Small station with steep overpass

Pleasure Beach is a cute little station with an old-fashioned decorative roof over the seating area at the entrance, but not much more going on than that. It is at the southern end of Pleasure Beach, close to many of the larger hotels, but apart from that I did not find it very handy and preferred the tram. A big part of that was that the area around the station was hard to navigate due to a lack of properly lowered curbs. It was especially frustrating that the pavements were fairly new and there were lower bits, but they were still a couple of inches tall. I would not recommend coming to the station from Ventnor Road on the other side of the track since the overpass looked scarily steep – I did not even want to try crossing it.

The station consists of one platform. There is a white on dark blue sign next to the entrance showing you which directions the trains to specific destinations go. (Trains to Preston go to the right, trains to Blackpool South go to the left, as seen when facing the tracks.) When you enter through the gate, there is a ticket machine around to your left. It is a tall touch screen and you can press a little circle with a wheelchair symbol at the bottom of the screen to bring the whole interface within reach to someone sitting. There is a board with information on the South Fylde Line to your right when you enter and several benches with backrests and armrests (some on the sides, some between the seats) in the covered area. The floor in the entrance area is bricked evenly, the platform is tarmacked and there are tactile markings about a foot from the edge. When you exit the station and go around to your left, you will get to the start of the overpass. It is very long and steep and has a tall edge at the beginning of the ramp.

You can drive right up to the station entrance for drop-off. South Car Park, which is pretty small and has 2 accessible parking spaces, is right next to the station entrance. The closest other public transport option is the Burlington Road West tram stop on the Promenade. It is a 0.2-mile/4-minute walk or wheel away. The closest bus stops are Coasters and the Watson Street bus stops, which are a 5–7-minute walk or wheel away depending on the direction.

Staff
This station is not staffed. There is, however, staff on every train that can assist you with boarding and disembarking. You can book assistance in advance, but I also got help when taking the train spontaneously.
